How Call of Duty: Warzone bans work

Call of Duty: Warzone is operated by Activision, whose RICOCHET anti-cheat team handles enforcement. Before a final decision, an account can be placed "under review", which restricts matchmaking while the team examines the activity in question.

Activision lets players check the enforcement status of an account and request a review through Activision Support. Thus, a review request should match the exact account, platform and time frame of the penalty, as anything broader is unlikely to be answered on its merits.

Step by step

How to appeal a Call of Duty: Warzone ban

  1. Save the ban notice

The first step is to secure the Call of Duty: Warzone ban message as a screenshot and as text, together with the date, the platform and any reference number or ID it shows.

  2. Find the rule it relies on

The notice usually names a rule. That rule shall be looked up in the terms Activision Publishing, Inc. publishes, so that the appeal answers it instead of making a general complaint. Activision Publishing, Inc. terms of service

  3. Collect what supports your side

Useful evidence includes purchase receipts, earlier support replies with ticket numbers and, for a device ban, when the PC or console was acquired and who else used it. A password, however, is never part of the evidence.

  4. Send one clear appeal to Activision Support (ban appeal page)

The appeal is sent while signed in with the banned account, as a single request that sets out what happened in chronological order, why the rule does not fit and which documents are attached. Official page: support.activision.com/ban-appeal (link checked on 26 Oct 2026)

  5. Keep the ticket and follow up with facts

The ticket number and the reply shall be kept. If Activision Publishing, Inc. refuses, a second request makes sense only with new facts or a clearer explanation; repeating the first request adds nothing.

We prepare steps 2 to 4 for you: the appeal text, the rule it answers and where to send it, checked by a person before you get it. Start your Call of Duty: Warzone appeal

Questions

Questions about Call of Duty: Warzone appeals

What does "under review" mean in Warzone?

Activision restricts matchmaking while it looks at an account. The review can end with the restriction lifted or turned into a suspension or permanent ban, so it is worth preparing your facts early.

Does a Warzone ban affect other Call of Duty games?

Activision enforces bans on the Activision account, so a permanent ban can cover more than one Call of Duty title. The notice and the status page show what is affected.
